ILLUSTRATION ➽ MERCH DESIGN ➽ CONFERENCE BRANDING
IETF
The Internet Engineering Task Force is a standards organization working to maintain technical standards across the web. Its volunteers combined effort focus on the usability and interoperability of the internet.
For years, Ocupop has worked with their team to create branding and swag for their annual conferences. Visuals combine “easter eggs” about their digital world with the cities hosting each conference. I’ve worked on a couple of designs during my time with Ocupop, experimenting with a variety of styles. It’s always deeply fun diving in to each city’s unique setting and the ways we can showcase the local culture.
During the pandemic days of remote work, IETF focused heavily on conferences that combined the at-home work environment with scenes from the cities hosting each event.
IETF 111 was hosted in San Francisco, so I provided imagery reminiscent of the local classics—streetcars, kitschy souvenirs, and of course, the Golden Gate Bridge.

IETF 122
IETF 122 took place in Bangkok, Thailand, and the inspiration to pull from was nearly endless. I looked at showcasing the floating markets, the very specific dishes that make the street food scene pop, and the flashing neon lights and tuk tuks of Bangkok’s nightlife.
